General Impressions:
I personally prefer the tracks that are "faster". Tracks that probably aren't in the spirit of Water Walk, because its pace, but this type of sound to be feels "better" when its moving at a clip, because my ADD is just so bad that silence or quiet parts break my mental (mind's eye). This will show in my + and - reviews
Zoom may be compressing this but sometimes it feels like some have
low level: nothing noise
**I have hearing loss and can't always here certain sounds**

About
Mike
I like the intro, it sets a scene, I could see this story unfolding being written. I clearly moved to various places or ideas as it played
- -
It's quiet, but that may be more ZOOM. It was singular in nature, could have had a touch more variety.
- -
To me this felt like it was a story about starting at a desk, then moving through the world and interacting with different entities. To me it was a story of starting then ending.
Rob
Even pacing throughout, it felt like it was moving evenly through each domain that was expressed
- -
A little quiet, last ill mention this, as it may be a ZOOM artifact. But the beginning was fairly simple, and I got a little lost in the middle. I wasn't sure what was expressed but the end and beginning were clear.
- -
I felt like this was conversational in nature, as though we were moving from conversation to conversation, I enjoyed the last act, the scribbling/talking effect given made me feel that stress.
Alki
I like this intro, its quiet on purpose, this tension is good, it, the middle act really had some cool effects. The beat is a nice touch. There was a change in tone here I could see.
- -
The tension drops off suddenly, it goes TOO soft, then ramps up, breaking the feeling. It's a good recovery, however. Dramatic tone shots it felt like the first third didn't belong. I liked the beat, but maybe overused?
- -
The build-up was nice, it gave me a sense I wanted to hear more in the beginning, then had these nice tension moments to ratchet up that tense feeling it was making. The middle section's ethereal clanking was a cool sensation. I LOVED the jungle, the beat, that was cool. Yeah, I loved the beat. I have no idea how it was done but I think its great
***Jeremy (me)***
Good length, had lots of different sounds. The attempt at "organic" noises was there, Mostly...
- -
The overuse of effects probably didn't help the organic feel, but they added a little drama. Could have had a better pacing and little better 1/3 part break up, I was a little lost in the end. More coherent 1/2/3 parts. It also seems to get a touch repetaitve.
- -
Organic sounding (mostly) good use of a variety of effects, there seemed to be a story of animals, outside, humans, then a mix to bring it together. It was mostly successful but there could have been more I suspect
Cal
I liked the singing, i liked its overlay with the other parts in the beginning. It was different and unexpected. The atmosphere set up by the various singing voice really sets a tone/mood.
- -
The bird effect was good, but overused, it fit very well, just pull up a bit.
- -
It feels like I am in a bathroom or kitchen in the morning with a man and his kid, the windows open as he sings getting ready on a weekend. It feels like he went from awake to a dream state remembering his day as he descends into a nightmare perhaps.
Julia
It has a very consistent theme through the entire soundscape. I very much know who it's about (a cute kiddo!)
- -
The voiceover was overdone a bit, I understand the theme but to much voice in my opinion, and the baby was louder than the rest of it by a mile. That may have been intentional.
- -
Story is set up with a baby and a mom. I am there wishing I could help her sooth the kiddo. I feel deeply for this ha ha.
Hannah
The theming I could hear felt cohesive. I like this last 1/3 of the soundscape. It has some weird effects and some drama.
- -
I didn't really hear a theme until the middle. The last 1/3 had one.
- -
I didn't really get a theme here, but it was quiet. I unfortunately can't really comment where my mood was, the parts I could here were well done effects, and concise. The end had some good moments. The last 1/3 I liked how it was a counter point to the rest.
Caden
I liked the beginning a lot it sets a mood. Effective use of effects throughout and a variety of them too.
- -
The beginning was strong then falls off a bit in the middle.
- -
The middle helped set the tone, there was a soft spot in the middle I got lost in but came back near the last 1/3. The last 1/3 has drama, and an interaction of sounds that I enjoyed.
Garrett
I liked the immediate start, it felt chatty and rapid, which I prefer in these soundscapes thus far. There is a good use of effects across various sound samples.
- -
Don't let up on the chatter. There were quiet parts that didn't match, which may be artistic choice...
- -
I like how this moved. To me the story wasn't was played but how it was played. It moved quickly and lots of "stuff". It was busy, it felt like it had a motion to it (like a fast-paced movie trailer would have to make you feel like you're moving).
Tasia
I like the sharp use of sounds with dramatic cuts in-between. There is a decent use of effects as well.
- -
There are nice cuts and sounds, but they seem to far apart so I don't get a sense of motion (my preference for these). I think the cat was repeated a bit to much as was the guitar.
- -
I sense a silly cat interacting with its residents as they go about a nightly routine or rituals. An evening home dealing with a cat.
I like the look of the soundscape (the visual that Sound Cloud shows - looks like waves)
Brendon
I like the use of the sound clips. The distortions were cool, stark cut offs and staticky always intrigue me. (Blame it on years of Sci-Fi)
- -
Starts slow, that's not my preference (that it be faster), and it feels there are a lot of gaps in intelligible sound, granted I like the effects, they just don't give me a picture.
- -
It was quiet, but the parts that were quiet still clearly had effects. I liked the "jump scare" louder bits, and that's probably not the intent but that's how it came off to me. I like the alterations to known sounds, and the last 1/5 I very much liked the rapid fire nature of it.
Jordan
I like strong starts; this was a strong start. It had overlapping sounds that made sense together. The effects here are well done, with nice overlap and nice intermix with dramatic cuts.
- -
This is on me, there was an effect that ZOOM was artifacting and it hurt my ears ha ha. I think there was some great parts broken up by too much of what felt like low level artifact noise. That may just be me. And it gets better in the second half.
- -
The start was strong, it sets the mood, I think that's why I favour those stronger parts. The overlapping voices adds texture, couple that with sounds and you get a decent fabric for a picture. I like the end, the loud noises, rapid overtalk, and effects on voices makes it ethereal.
Jake
I liked the beginning, the overtalk and distorted voices, gives me a mental image of a LSD trip (if I did LSD). That last third had some legit psychedelic effects and I very much felt it.
- -
The dead space feels a little too DEAD compared to the very rapid and loud parts. I think there may have been a little too much outside vocal work here. I'd have preferred the records from class.
- -
Very quickly and rapidly started moving, had lots of distortion and noise, this moves fast too, I felt like a lot was in here doing various things. It feels like what I imagine a bad acid trip is portrayed visually, I can see in in my head. A person took a magic drug in a movie and now flashing images and movement transpire. This is clearly an unbelievably bad trip for our protagonist.
Maggie
I like the rapid starts (as I have said so that's a bias). I like the effects and overlap on each other. It makes it sound spooky and far away from reality.
- -
This isn't a negative (objective) this is a personal taste thing: I don't like the music. It doesn't fit with the rest of the class - that's not ~totally~ fair as each is standalone - but it stands out to me as fairly different.
- -
This as we listen takes me to a dream scape. I feel like we fell down a well and have memories passing us, conversations said and to be said, like the 3 ghosts of Christmas from A Christmas Carol.
Anjali
I like the beat in the beginning (mostly). It sets a speed and tone for the entire soundscape. The overlapping is good. Distortion is good.
- -
I prefer to not have songs or music from outside, it feels like it is such, maybe it's not. It sets an artificial tempo to follow. Even if it's fast. It's a touch reparative.
- -
It feels to me like I am in a living room, and the family is having a dance night. Or I am in a location that's having a very small get together to do the same.
Dzifah
Sets an early tone, then speeds up (I like this). The overlapping makes it sound busy, like it wants to be a busy place maybe? The depth comes in in the beginning of the middle third.
- -
Early tone seems a bit lost in the 1/3 of the soundscape. Every time I started getting a picture (in the first half) it would suddenly stop, not dramatically.
- -
I feel like I want to be in a busy place, with lots of activity. I take a minute to get there then I feel like in in a place with things happening and people interacting.
Michael
It starts loud and energetic. Lots of overlap and talking. Oddly, it doesn't feel as "fast" as the talking would imply, because of the music in the background.
- -
I'm not a fan of this music. I like how it interacts here, but there is something about music as a portion that just hits me wrong. I feel like it can be a bit overwhelming in terms of the sound envelope.
- -
The music sets a stage here, even though the overlapping effects feel fast. The music slows it down and gives the whole thing a tempo and texture. I'm not sure how I feel about the music as a technical aspect, but it sets a mood here of a calm relaxed person intermixed with fast paced rapidly moving people.
Megan
Nice use of sounds and effects with overlapping tempo. Isn't as fast as some other ones because a few of the sounds meter it out, I like the way it's done here. The sounds in the beginning set the mood.
- -
Some of the sounds get lost in the shuffle. The work together but are so low level they are hard to discern. I thought the sounds were good, some were overused, but not in a bad way, they were done so to convey something, but they did repeat a fair bit.
- -
I like the use of vocals here. They are overlapped with a wide array of various sounds. The sounds are very much an attempt to set a mood. I got the vibe we are going to an airport or train station. (I see it says Sea, but in my head was a train station).
Gavin
Lots of good effects across lots of layers. Good intermix across the soundscape. Feels busy and full. The vocals work here (mostly) for me.
- -
Vocals are good, but they repeated a lot (granted, I liked the overlap itself). I think sometimes it's too much vocal usage and i lose the effects. The voices had nearly no effects? Maybe they did I just didn't hear it.
- -
Feels like we are in a group of people doing something, going somewhere. Plans or dinner perhaps? We are all together discussing - something - which I like that its intelligible (mostly). I very much feel we are somewhere in the end of the piece as a group.
Jacob
Stong beginning, moderate tempo. Overlapping, highly effected components are strong here. I very much feel that it's a mixture of different sound types all done for edits.
- -
There is dead space, in the beginning, its artistic clearly. The singing again seems to be a weird thing for me. There are great dramatic cuts, then a lot of weaker cuts, it feels like it's not cohesive in that way.
- -
The vocals here play a better role than I was expecting in the beginning. The edits were strong and dramatic and seems very purposeful for establishing the idea we aren't real. Strong dramatic edits, rapidly done, a soundscape doth make.
Sarah
I like the effects on the initial vocals. The overtalk effects are a good layering. The effects i can here are well done and well placed. This very much sets a mood.
- -
Initial vocals seem alone (which may be artistic choice). There may be a bit too much vocal for my taste. It felt like long stretches of just overtalk, with minimal effects applied.
- -
I feel like I'm in an airport or train station cafe. I'm reading a book or paper, but I know my train is leaving soon. You must listen to everyone around you and for announcements. Train stations have more "nature" around them as you don't have the strict security you do at an airport.
Calvin
Sets the stage well, moves quickly, Good use of different techniques across the board and a wide array of sounds.
- -
Gets a little confusing at times, but that can be a net gain as well. A little repetitive in places, but artistic choice.
- -
Ethereal (which is my personal fav sound in this project) is used well here. That clicking/popping noise throughout feels like a horror movie waiting to show you its next twist. I enjoyed this as if I were in said movie waiting for a ghost.
Alan
Very crunchy/textured beginning, I like that personally. Good distortion effects and some solid overlap.
- -
Had some quiet voids that turn up rapidly, which I usually like but here its jarring, again artistic choice so it's not BAD, just my opinion.
- -
Gets very loud rapidly, which sets a mood that I have a baby and an animal making a mess in a very busy place. I like the interplay of noises - jarring as they are - because I wasn't expecting them, and it wakes you up (I like that).
